Abstract After warm-up to the nominal high voltage, the trim current is set to zero, and the high voltage to a lower value. Spectra are then obtained with the 0.1-PAIR aperture, G190H, the Pt-Ne lamp, and three different X-BASEs; these will allow the determination of the focus and x-pitch. Measurements with the TALEDs will be obtained through the 0.1-PAIR aperture to determine the y-pitch. The voltage is then increased in steps of 400V, with a range of 2KV, and spectra obtained at each step. If this test fails to give a good focus, a contingency test is also given. This program will result in an instruction flow change to the detector high voltage setting, the x-pitch value, the y-pitch value, and possibly the trim current value. Scientific Justification. See Abstract. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3. Description of proposed observations. After high voltage warm-up, set the trim current to zero, and the detector HV to 22.1 (blue) or 21.1 (red). Obtain a series of three spectra with the following configuration: .......0.1-PAIR lower aperture .......grating G190H .......8 x- steps 1 y-step .......Pt-Ne lamp/ direct at three different X-BASEs. Then obtain a map of the photocathode with the following configuration: .......0.1-PAIR lower aperture .......camera mirror .......1 x-step 85 y-step .......TALED Increase the HV by 400V, wait 1 minute, and repeat the observations as above. Continue to increase the HV for 5 steps until the maximum voltage is 24.1 (blue) or 23.1 (red). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5. Description of special scheduling requirements. If this test fails to yield a good focus, a contingency test is also included. The test is similar to that above, except that the high voltage is set to a low value, and the focus trim current is varied. This observation should be scheduled 4 days after the coarse y-base mapping (proposal 2187). Wait 4 days before scheduling the fine y-base mapping (proposal 2188). The correct value for the initial y-base, determined in the prerequisite program, will need to have been updated prior to the start of this test. The value for the Y parameter is based on ground data. It will need to be updated based on the data in proposal 2187. If an offset Y parameter is available, replace Y=469 and Y=-309 with Y-OFF=+253. If a good focus is not found, we will want to schedule the COND lines as rapidly as possible, as no further FOS observations can be obtained until this program has been successfully completed. These observations MUST occur during non-SAA impacted orbits. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 6. Description of special calibration exposures. This test is not stray light sensitive. All observations are internal Pt-Ne and TALED lamp measurements. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 7. Data reduction and analysis plans. Data reduction will be performed at the ST ScI, and the analysis will be performed using FOS IDT computer facilities. This is a verification of ground- based analysis, so no data will need to be added to the PODPS pipeline. However, this program will determine the correct detector high voltage, trim current, x- pitch, and y-pitch values to be used in obtaining data, and this information will need to be updated after any change is measured. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 10.
