The observations will be used to determine the location of the spectra for selected aperture/grating combinations. Data will be obtained with the 0.1-PAIR and 0.3" apertures for all dispersers, and with gratings G190H and G400H for all apertures. This subset of configurations will allow us to determine the locations of all images on the detectors. This test is a precursor of the SV FOS-iV1 test. This program has a high priority compared with other OV activities. Scientific Justification. Measurements of the internal Pt-Ne lamp, obtained when other SIs are prime, will allow us to determine the location of spectra for selected aperture/disperser combinations. Comparison with prelaunch calibration data will check for major deviations in these positions. A full set of y-scans with fine y-spatial resolution will allow us to derive exact tables of y-deflection values for use in all normal operations. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3. Description of proposed observations. In this test, we will obtain data on the internal Pt-Ne lamps. Data will be obtained through the 0.1-PAIR and 0.3" apertures for all 9 dispersers. Observations with grating G190H and G400H will be made through all 10 science apertures. For the initial visit, only the 0.3" aperture will be used. Note that, for the HV stability test (sequence YMAP*1), neither the filter-grating wheel nor the aperture wheel can be moved. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5. Description of special scheduling requirements. All observations are parallel. These observations should be performed 4 days after the y-pitch setting program (Prop=2189). The correct values for the detector focus, x-pitch, y-pitch, and initial y-base determined in the prerequisite programs should have time to updated in the 4 days between this test and 2189. Note that the values of Y on lines 1, 2, 58 and 59 are based on ground- determined Y-bases. These values will need to be updated based on in-orbit y- bases measured in proposal 2187, which is performed 7 days prior to this test. We will need to take the nominal Y-base and add/subtract 128 Y-units. All observations MUST occur in non-SAA impacted orbits. This test is a necessary on- orbit test of the calibration lamps and the gross alignment of the FOS, and is a required precursor of SV test FOS-iV1. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 6. Description of special calibration exposures. This test is not stray light sensitive. All observations are internal Pt-Ne lamp measurements. Data reduction will be performed at the ST ScI, and the analysis will be performed using FOS IDT computer facilities. This is a verification of ground- based analysis, so no data will need to be added to the PODPS pipeline. However, this program will determine the correct y-deflections to be used in obtaining data, and this information will need to be updated after any change in position is measured. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 10.
