The observations will be used to determine the repeatibility of the Filter/Grating Wheel assemply. Data will be obtained through the 0.3" aperture using grating G130H, G400H, and G270H. Data will also be obtained with the TALED and the MIRROR. We will cycle through the various gratings for a total of 40 spectra, which should be identical if the Filter/Grating Wheel assembly is properly working. The test will be repeated 5 days after the initial observation. This program has a low priority compared with other OV activities. Measurements of the Pt-Ne lamp and TALED will be obtained with the FOS Blue Digicon. The observations will be used to determine the repeatibility of the Filter/Grating Wheel assembly. This will aid in determining the ultimate wavelength accuracy possible with the FOS. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3. Description of proposed observations. Measurements of the Pt-Ne lamp will be obtained with the FOS Blue Digicon. The observations will be used to determine the repeatibility of the Filter/Grating Wheel assembly. Data will be obtained through the 0.3" aperture using gratings G130H, G400H, and G270H. Data will also be obtained with the TALED and the MIRROR. We will cycle through the various gratings for a total of 40 spectra, which should be identical if the Filter/Grating Wheel assembly is properly working. The test will be repeated 5 days after the initial observation. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5. Description of special scheduling requirements. Prerequisite: 2188, FOS-OV 062/072, Fine Y-base measurements at least 4 D prior to this proposal. If any observations are scheduled earlier than 4D after proposal 2748 - SAA Dark Measurements, then the observations MUST occur in non- SAA impacted orbits. If the observations are scheduled at least 4D after 2748, there are no restrictions. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 6. Description of special calibration exposures. All observations are internal Pt-Ne lamp or TALED measurements. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 7. Data reduction and analysis plans. Data reduction will be performed at the ST ScI, and the analysis will be performed using FOS IDT computer facilities. This is a verification of ground- based analysis, so no data will need to be added to the PODPS pipeline. However, if this program reveals a large error in the repeatibility of the Filter/Grating Wheel, it may result in additional repeats of this test needing to be performed (probably in SV). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 10.
