Using a special HSP system controller bus director program, simulated science data are transmitted from the polarimeter IDT (POL, IDT#1) at the maximum data rate. The justification for this internal test is to verify that science data can be successfully transmitted by HSP at maximum transfer rates. This test is essential to verify that the HSP can be used in modes where the high speed data link must be utilized. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3. Description of proposed observations. This test requires no external targets. The test is performed by executing the following steps with IDT#1 (POL): 1) Make the oldhold-to-newhold transition. Note that the High Volts are off. Configure the SD link for 1Mbit data transmission. Load and run the 1 Mbit Special bus director program using the tape recorder to store the data. Make the newhold-to-oldhold transition. 2) Make the oldhold-to- newhold transition. Note that the High Volts are off. Configure the SD link for 1Mbit data transmission. Load and run the 1 Mbit Special bus director program using a realtime downlink to transmit the data. Make the newhold-to-oldhold transition. 3) Make the oldhold-to-newhold transition. High Volts are off. Configure the SD link for 32 Kbit data transmission. Load and run the 32 Kbit Special bus director program using the tape recorder to store the data. Make the newhold-to-oldhold transition. 4) Make the oldhold-to-newhold transition. High Volts are off. Configure the SD link for 4 Kbit data transmission. Load and run the 4 Kbit Special bus director program using the tape recorder to store the data. Make the newhold-to-oldhold transition. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5. Description of special scheduling requirements. HSP tests iA though iD must be completed before this test is begun. Only one segment of this test needs to be done in real-time. The data collections in question 3 can be performed in any order and not all of them need be performed together. The pieces may be constructed as separate command loads if necessary. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 7. Data reduction and analysis plans. Data reduction will consist of analyzing the collected simulated science data. The data will be searched for deviations from the imbedded pattern (a "ramp") to detect any mutations or dropouts. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 10.
