The results of these measurements are the stability characteristics of the FGS to allow an estimate of the frequency of OFAD re-calibrations. SV Scrub Plan: steps 1-14 Off nominal roll = +30D for steps 1) and 8) 1) Position HST to place the check field in FGS 3. Acquire guide stars. HST roll should be selected so that the same roll orientation can be used as long as possible. 2) Measure 9 stars in POS mode. The last star is the same as the first. 3) Repeat steps 1-2 after 10 +/-1 days using the same roll orientation as in step 1. 4) Repeat steps 1-2 after 20 +/- 1 days using the same roll orientation as in step 1. 5) Repeat steps 1-2 after 33 +/- 1 days using the same roll orientation as in step 1. 6) Repeat steps 1-2 after 46 +/- 1 days using the same roll orientation as in step 1. 6) Repeat steps 1-2 after 59 +/- 1 days using the same roll orientation as in step 1. 8) On the same visit as step 6 repeat step 1-2 using FGS 3 with a roll orientation that can be used over the next 37 days. 9) 11 +/- 1 days after step 8 repeat steps 1-2 using FGS 3 with the same roll orientation as in step 8. 10) 24 +/- 1 days after step 8 repeat steps 1-2 using FGS 3 with the same roll orientation as in step 8. 11) 37 +/- 1 days after step 8 repeat steps 1-2 using FGS 3 with the same roll orientation as in step 8. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 4. Justification of need for HST observations. We need to monitor structural changes due to H2O desorption and other effects. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5. Description of special scheduling requirements. SV Scrub PLAN: LINES 12-201 The off-nominal orientation offsets of 30 deg established in lines 12 and 28 apply to Proxima Cen as target. When STEIN 2051A is used as target this offset should be negative (i.e., -30 deg). Use CHECKP for observations between 2/01/92 and 8/20/92. Use CHECKS for for observations between 9/7/92 and 3/6/93. Series of measurements at a fixed orientation must be made using a single target/SEQUENCE. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 7. Data reduction and analysis plans. ADRS with SDAS will be used to monitor intra FGS positional changes due to H2O desorption plus other (e.g. thermal) causes. The measurements will be fit to previous measurements and a frequency of recalibration of the FGS geometries established. Special parameters will not be generated or required, but the raw data and final coefficients should be readily available for future analysis (CDB). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 8. Page 3 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 12. 32 Kbps engineering data - MA link presumed Results of this test: a check field is measured and analyzed for changes in geometric distortions. Any significant changes will indicate the need for a complete recalibration using AST-SV-02 for that particular FGS. We will also establish a frequency of recalibration of the FGS geometries. A non-null result indicates the need for further analysis prior to continuing the SV program. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 13.
