Focus diode field maps will be used to scan the images of both spectral lamps, one at a time, in target acquisition mirrors N2, N1, A2. A1 will not produce a bright enough image to detect. The N2 image will be positioned at the left side of the diode array, at the nominal carrousel position for acquisition observations. Each map will be 22x22 pixels. Maps will be made with both 25MUm pixel spacings and with 6.25 MUm spacings. The maps are made using the Image Mode of HRS operations. For N2, the integration period will be 0.2 sec. For N1 it will be 1 sec, and for A2 one sec. For A2 the map will be repeated several times to coadd data and improve the counting statistics... The observations will be based on the "default OST" ZIMAGE. A deflection calibration will be performed at the start of each map, to ensure correct centering. Timing estimate. Lines 3-6: 1 min each * 4 = 4 min Lines 7-10: 5 min each * 4 = 20 min Lines 11-14: 20 min each * 4 = 80 min Total = 104 min exposure time + overheads ~ 2 hrs - may be done as parallel- does not require special pointing or HRS to be prime SI. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5. Description of special scheduling requirements. OV-SV Prerequisites Camera Mode Internal Checks (OV Prop ID 1404) Schedule the maps with 25MUm spacing several days before those with 6.25MUm spacings. It will be necessary to update the image locations carefully before attempting the 6.25MUm maps. Data reduction and analysis plans. 1. Contour plots of normalized counts with 10 percent contour intervals 2. Circular enclosed energy functions 3. Circular point spread functions 4. Precise centers of images will be measured in detector coordinates. No updates to project data bases are expected concerning image quality.
