The most desirable target is AM Her. It will be acquired with an Onboard Acquisition. A rapid readout observation will be started, with a sample time of 0.1 sec . Grating G160M will be used centered for Lambda=1550A. The observatrion will continue for 15 minutes. A second rapid readout observation will be started with a sample time of approximately 5 sec. It will be allowed to run for 30 minutes. The third exposure uses Accum mode, with intermediate data readouts after each pattern. This will give 10 sec time resolution for 30 minutes. The fourth exposure is a 20sec ACCUM mode observation which is repeated 90 times in 30 minutes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5. Description of special scheduling requirements. For time resolution faster than about 5 seconds than 4 kbps science link cannot be used. Idt will be necessary to use either the tape recorder or the 1.024 Mbps link for 15 minutes. The use of intermediate readouts will require that HRS be the only SI allowed to output data for the duration of the exposure. Description of special calibration exposures. The purpose of the test is to verify the ability to obtain uninterrupted rapid readout observations, and to use intermediate readouts and repeat observations to maximize time resolution in Accum mode. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 7. Data reduction and analysis plans. The total number of spectra received will be counted, and their time tags inspected to verify that no data were lost, that the timing of the individual exposures was correct and that they are ordered in the correct sequence when made available to the GO. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 11.
