Observation: An image of the region will be obtained with either the WF or PC. The image will be displayed in OSS and the observer will identify one star in a complex field. For simplicity the brightest object may be selected. That star will be positioned in the HRS Large Aperture by a maneuver calculated in OSS. A single field map, and a brief confirmation spectrum will be obtained. From the field map image the target will be centered, if necessary in the LSA. The entire sequence should be repeated, this time with the target placed directly in the HRS Small Science Aperture. A brief confirmation spectrum will be obtained. Small Aperture observation is SV Delta Plan. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5. Description of special scheduling requirements. The purpose of the test is to verify Interactive Acquisition. OV-SV Prerequisites. HRS-04 Spiral Search Pattern (Proposal 1350- OV) HRS-02.2 FGS/HRS Alignment - Phase III Fine Alignment (Prop 1397 -OV) SV Minimum Plan: GHRS Large Aperture, lines 9,10,11 SV Delta Plan: GHRS Small Aperture, lines 12,13,14 Guiding Tolerance: 0.025 arc seconds ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 7. Data reduction and analysis plans. The main goal is to validate the software and procedures used in OSS to measure positions and calculate maneuvers. Analysis of the field map taken after the centering maneuver will tell how accurately the procedures worked. If the image is not well centered, the error will be measured and the source of the problem investigated. Updates to algorithms, parameters or data base entries may be necessary. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 8. Two candidate fields are indicated on the Target List. HD 93204-93205 will be used for Mode II Target Acquisition test HRS-05.1, 05.2, and 05.3. We would like to measure the offsets between these two stars with this WF/PC image to verify the Early Acquisition process. If it were not possible to support either WF/PC assisted Mode I acquisition, or analysis of Early Acquisition images during the SV period, we could specify the offsets from SAO catalogue positions of the two stars.
