Beta Cen will be acquired with mirror A1 and centered in the Large Science Aperture. Grating G4 (G270M) will be used to record the spectrum from 2300-3400A in steps of 25A. It will also be observed with Echelle B at carrousel positions corresponding to m lambda = 56200 and 59000. At each position orders 24-18 will be measured. These data will be used in conjunction with similar scans of Mu Col taken in the prerequisite tests to derive the count rate linearity. The HRS is intentionally operated outside of the nominal wavelength ranges in lines 2.5, 3.7, 4.0. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5.
