Description of proposed observations. ETA UMa will be acquired using mirror A1 and centered in the Large Science Aperture. A series of very short exposure spectra will be taken with grating G5 (G140L) with central wavelengths lambda = 1100, 1300, 1500, 1700A. The star will be translated to the Small Science Aperture and the same series will be repeated. With the star again in the Large Aperture a series of 18 observations will be made with grating G1 (G140M) with central wavelengths lambda = 1045, 1060, 1075.......1300A. A series of observations will then be made with Echelle A. At three carrousel positions, selected for m lambda = 55600, 56200, 57200 orders 53- 43 will be observed with wavelengths lambda = 1060 to 1307A. The star will be returned to the Small Aperture and the series m lambda = 56200 will be repeated. The HRS is intentionally operated out of spectral element wavelength range for exposure lines 15, 37.8, 38 AT 1045,1243, and 1330 Angstroms, respectively. The shortest wavelength end of G140L will also be calibrated with the central star of NGC 246, an extremely hot, blue, unreddened star with well known fluxes at these wavelengths. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5. Description of special scheduling requirements. OV SV Prerequisties: 1. HRS 05.2 Mode II Target Locate (Prop 1352) The test should be run three times to monitor stability of far UV sensitivity.
