TARGETS: Type:(1)Bright, early-type HRS photometric standard (2)Bright, late- type star with spatially resolved circumstellar shell. Candidates: (1) mu Col (=HD 38666) (2) alpha Ori (=HD 39801)...highly preferred. Alternates: (2b) alpha Boo (=HD 124897) For mu Col: Collect spectral data with star centered in Large Science Aperture (LSA), and at 4 positions successfully offset farther from x- edge (and outside) of the aperture and then at 5 similar positions along the y- axis. Repeat using the Small Science Aperture (SSA). Perform at three widely- spaced wavelengths using low and intermediate resolution first-order gratings. For alpha Ori: Collect spectral data at one wavelength, intermediate resolution with star centered in the SSA and at three positions successively farther from the edge (and outside) of SSA. Time-on-Target: (1) 3.06 hours (2) .38 hours 3.44 hours ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5. Description of special scheduling requirements. The suite of internal tests 2767, 2768, 1409 and 1410 should be run before this tests along with 1352 to verify target acquisition. Data reduction and analysis plans. Spectra will be reduced and analyzed with software developed by the HRS-IDT. Test will measure the degree to which HRS rejects light from objects in the immediate vicinity of, but outside of, the science apertures.
