PURPOSE: Verify the following Target Acquisition functions: 1. Obtain and analyze an "Early Acquisition" WF/PC image 2. Verify Offset phase of the HRS Onboard Target Acquisition process If it is available and permitted to use it. 3. Verify the capability to make small offset maneuvers via direct commands to the DF-224. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3. Description of proposed observations. OBSERVATION: An image of the field containing these stars will be taken as an Early Acq. The image will be used as an "Early Acquisition" observation, from which the relative positions of HD 93204 and HD 93205 will be measured. HD 93205 will be acquired using a Mode II Search and Locate sequence. The star will be centered in the LSA and a brief confirmation spectrum will be obtained with grating G5 (G140L). An image of the field will be obtained with the WF/PC. An offset to the position of HD 93204 will be performed using a DF224 offset. After the maneuver is completed a second WF/PC image will be obtained. These images will be useful for troubleshooting in the event that the offset maneuver is not successful. The Search and Locate phases of target acquisition will be used to center HD 93204 in the LSA, followed by a brief confirmation spectrum. A second offset will return to the position of HD 93205, with WF/PC images obtained before and after the maneuver. After again centering up in the LSA, the offsets to HD 93204 and back will be made using the GHRS flight software offset capability. This will be done as a SV Delta Plan activity. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 5. Description of special scheduling requirements. Data reduction and analysis plans. Maps will be analyzed to confirm centering. Spectra analyzed to confirm proper star. We will need to use ST ScI facilities, presumably SDAS to analyze the WF/PC Early Acquisition image to derive the offsets between stars.
