Abstract It is proposed to observe a few blue compact dwarf galaxies at high angular resolution. The most massive stars are expected to be resolved and identified by an exposure through a far UV filter. Further exposures with a near UV and visible filters would give their colors. The aim is to determine how star formation may be affected by the extreme conditions known to be present in this category of objects (intense burst of star formation, low heavy element abundances, large amount of neutral hydrogen). An exposure with the WF/PC in the far red is supposed to reveal the possible existence of an older generation of stars. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 8. For each of 5 targets 1) FOC exposure through F165W, F342W and F437M (this latter filter avoids emission line) 2) WFC or PC exposure through F850LP FOC exposure times are calculated for a BO (M(V) = -4) star WF/PC exposure times are calculated for a KO (M(V) = -2) star For the three more distant objects, the exposure through F342W and F437M are conditional on the obtention of enough resolved stars in the far UV image.
